Paquito Fernández Ochoa Ski Museum

Plaza Mayor, 3. Cercedilla.

An encounter with the mountain sports

The first skiers reached the slopes of the Navacerrada Pass in 1915, one year after the first combustion engine vehicles got there.

It is not by chance that one finds the Paquito Fernández Ochoa Ski Museum on the sides of the Guadarrama mountain, in the centre of Cercedilla town. This is more than a museum; it is a place that promotes skiing and mountain sports surrounded by the wonders of nature.

This ski museum is a place where everyone can interact with historical and contemporary objects, photographs, works of art, displays; they speak about the birth and the evolution of the ski and mountain sports and also about the contact with the nature in this mountain area.

From the collection of this museum could not lack the trophies, personal and sport objects of Paquito Fernández Ochoa, the only Spaniard to have won a gold medal in the Olympic Winter Games (Sapporo, 1972). It is a lively place for all ski fans and lovers typified by Paquito whose life was tied to the Sierra de Guadarrama and Cercedilla.
