La Purísima Concepción Church
Plaza de la Fuente del León, s/n. Los Molinos.
This single-nave Renaissance-style church with its Latin cross floor plan dates from 1570 and is a must-see of the religious architecture in the Sierra de Guadarrama.
Its Baroque altarpiece is sheltered under a granite stone sail vault and comes from a church in Medina del Campo. Its atrium with Tuscan columns has been a meeting point of the social and religious life of the municipality throughout the centuries.
It is very rich in sculptural elements from the 17th century Castilian Baroque school, and in oil paintings from different periods. In recent decades, more works of art have been added to the church heritage: sculptures, stained glass windows and lamps. The bell tower is very slender and unique as it has a bell wall that is not usual in mountain villages.
