Location and Access
The Ermita de San Antonio is located on the Cerro de los Agregados, within the municipality of Navacerrada, close to the shooting range and the Dehesa de Jarahonda. To reach the viewpoint, look out for the sign “Ermita de San Antonio”, situated at a roundabout on kilometre 11 of the M-601 road (the road to the Puerto de Navacerrada). A dirt track leads up to the Cerro de los Agregados and the small hermitage. The natural viewpoint is situated to the right of this monument.
Scenic View
The altitude and position of this viewpoint allow you to see some of the most significant locations in the western part of the region. To the north, the Cerro de la Golondrina and La Maliciosa stand out, along with the ridge of Los Almorchones, the village of Navacerrada, and its reservoir. To the east, along the horizon, you can see the Sierra de Los Porrones and La Pedriza, alongside the depression of the Samburiel stream. Turning south, you’ll spot the Sierra del Castillo, the Valmayor reservoir, and the Escorial ramp, which connects with Mount Abantos and Cuelgamuros. In the nearby area, the Cerro de Jarahonda and Cerro de las Ruedas are easily identifiable.
Identifiable Landscape Units
From this natural balcony, the following landscape units can be distinguished: the cerros of Navacerrada and Collado Mediano, the peaks and slopes of La Maliciosa, the Sierra de Los Porrones, the granite cliffs of La Pedriza, the Collado Mediano and Los Molinos slopes, and the pine forests of La Jarosa and Alto del León.
Observations
This is not an institutional viewpoint, meaning there are no interpretation panels. It is advisable to bring a map to help identify the most significant geographical landmarks. Binoculars are also recommended for a more detailed view of the surrounding landscapes.
