Location and Access
The viewpoint is located in the municipality of Guadarrama, specifically on the side of the N-VI road that ascends towards the Puerto or Alto del León. It is a wide platform that is very easy to identify.
Visual Range
This viewpoint provides easy access and offers very striking panoramic views of the Cercedilla – Los Molinos – Guadarrama depression and a good part of the mountainous sectors of the Madrid side of the Sierra. Specifically, you can observe the hills of Navacerrada, Collado Mediano, and Moralzarzal, La Maliciosa, the Sierra de Camorritos, and the entire Seven Peaks range. The urban areas of Cercedilla and Los Molinos are also visible.
Identifiable Landscape Units
From the viewpoint, you can identify, either fully or partially, the following landscape units:
- The pine forests of La Jarosa and Alto del León, in proximity.
- The meadows and enclosed fields of the Cercedilla-Los Molinos-Guadarrama depression.
- The hills of Navacerrada, Collado Mediano, and Becerril, part of the Fuenfría valley, with the significant reliefs that delimit it (Siete Picos, the alignment of La Peñota-Peña Bercial, etc.).
- Cuerda Larga (the Alto de las Guarramillas sector).
- The summits and slopes of La Maliciosa.
Observations
This is not an institutionalized viewpoint, but it is possible to stop with your vehicle without creating any risks. It is recommended to have a map to identify the most relevant geographical landmarks. It is also highly advisable to bring binoculars in your backpack for a better experience.
