Location and Access
The Mirador de la Pelona is located in the municipality of Cercedilla. You can access it from either Cercedilla or Los Molinos, the two closest urban areas. From Cercedilla, take the M-622 road to the intersection with the M-614, and from there, drive about 2.5 km towards Guadarrama. Drive slowly and be attentive to the signs to avoid passing the access to the viewpoint.
Visual Range
The viewpoint offers excellent views in the foreground of the enclosed fields, which remain green almost year-round, in the depression of Cercedilla – Los Molinos. In the middle distance, you can identify some of the most characteristic mountainous features of the western region: the alignment of Alto de la Peñota – Peña Bercial, the Montón de Trigo with its distinctive conical shape, the Puerto de la Fuenfría, and more. This viewpoint offers an interesting panoramic view of the Seven Peaks range.
Identifiable Landscape Units
From the viewpoint, you can identify, either fully or partially, the following landscape units:
- The meadows and enclosed fields of the Cercedilla-Los Molinos depression in close-up view.
- The hills of Navacerrada and part of the Fuenfría valley, with the significant reliefs surrounding it (Siete Picos, the alignment of La Peñota-Peña Bercial, etc.).
Observations
This is an institutionalized viewpoint with parking space for vehicles, picnic tables, and a water fountain. A small interpretive panel helps identify various landscape elements. It is highly recommended to bring binoculars in your backpack for a better experience.
